Stepping into an unfamiliar country for the first time is always exciting. During the long-awaited trip to Korea, everything feels perfect right up until the plane door opens and you step out of the arrival hall. After that, though, things get a little different. You might find yourself pausing in front of signs written in an unfamiliar language, unsure which way to go. There's no need to panic. Let's walk through, in order, the four things every foreign traveler runs into first after arriving at Incheon Airport. Once you've handled these four, all that's left is to enjoy your trip.

4 Things to Do After
Arriving at Incheon Airport,
A First-Day Guide
The moment you step out of the arrival hall, an internet connection becomes essential — for opening a map app, calling a taxi, or simply letting your family know you've arrived safely. In the arrival hall on the first floor of Terminal 1 at Incheon Airport, you'll find an LG U+ roaming center at both Gate F and Gate A. Terminal 2 also has roaming centers at Gate 3 and Gate 8, so no matter which terminal you land at, connecting to data is never hard to find.
During peak season, though, lines can get long in front of these roaming centers. That's why many travelers choose to purchase an LG U+ Travel eSIM online before departure. Once you scan the QR code you receive after purchase, you can start using it right away with no extra steps — no need to track down an airport counter at all. (If you've purchased a plan that combines data with voice service, you'll still need to verify your passport at the roaming center.) And if you do visit an LG U+ roaming center, the staff will happily help you install and test your eSIM, so there's nothing to worry about.
- Gate F: 24 hours
- Gate A: 06:00–22:00
- Gate 3: 24 hours
- Gate 8: 06:00–22:00
- Roaming center hours are subject to change, so please check the official website.
Convenience Store
With data sorted, the next thing to pick up is a transit card. A single T-money card covers Seoul's subways and buses, and even payment at most convenience stores, making it useful throughout your whole trip. You can buy a T-money card at convenience stores inside the airport such as GS25, CU, 7-Eleven, and Emart24, as well as at subway station kiosks or the online T-money shop. Another plus for travelers: you don't need to show a passport or ID — anyone can buy one on the spot.
One tip worth knowing: the price of the card itself doesn't include any balance. After buying the card, you'll need to load it separately with however much you want to use, at a convenience store or subway station.
Get a Free T-money Card
If you've purchased 3 days or more of the LG U+ eSIM mentioned above, there's one more perk for you. Visit the LG U+ counter at Incheon Airport, and you'll receive a T-money card free of charge. Keep in mind that this card, too, still needs to be loaded with balance separately.
- Convenience stores (GS25, CU, 7-Eleven, Emart24), subway station kiosks, the online T-money shop
- About KRW 3,000–4,000 (balance not included)
- Free with a 3+ day LG U+ eSIM purchase at the airport roaming center (balance loaded separately)
Once you've got your transit card, cash comes next. Card payments are widely accepted in Korea, but you'll still run into moments — at traditional markets, small restaurants, or street food stalls — where cash is the only option. Terminal 1 at Incheon Airport has KB Kookmin Bank, Woori Bank, and Hana Bank exchange counters near the 3F departure hall and 1F arrival hall, and Terminal 2 has several bank exchange counters as well, so exchanging money isn't difficult no matter which terminal you land at.
Worried your flight will land late at night when the banks are closed? No need to be. Each terminal has 24-hour unmanned currency exchange kiosks, so you can exchange money even if you arrive before dawn. Just don't forget that foreign travelers must bring their passport to exchange currency.

Airport Bus
Once you've handled data, a transit card, and currency exchange, the real trip begins — all that's left is getting into the city. There are two main ways to travel from Incheon Airport to Seoul: the Airport Railroad (AREX) and airport buses. AREX splits further into the express train and the all-stop train — the express train takes 43 minutes to Seoul Station from Terminal 1, or 51 minutes from Terminal 2, and costs KRW 13,000 for an adult ticket. Tickets can be bought at the express train customer center on B2 at Seoul Station or B1 at Terminals 1 and 2 of Incheon Airport. The all-stop train, on the other hand, doesn't require a reserved ticket and, like the subway, lets you get off freely at any station along the way. Airport buses (premium limousine type) run direct between Seoul and Incheon Airport for KRW 17,000, with the advantage of dropping you at major downtown stops with no transfers.
Which option to pick depends on how much luggage you have and where you're staying. If speed matters most, the express train is the way to go; if you have a lot of luggage and want a more comfortable ride, the airport bus suits you better. Landed on a late-night flight? No need to worry there either — the airport bus's unmanned ticket kiosks run 24 hours a day, and you can buy a late-night bus ticket right there on the spot.
- Express train fare: adult KRW 13,000 / child KRW 9,500
- All-stop train fare: varies by section
- Express train tickets: express train customer centers on B1 at Incheon Airport Terminals 1 and 2
- See the AREX website for details.
- Airport bus fare: Seoul–Incheon Airport (direct) KRW 17,000 (child KRW 12,000)
- Airport bus ticket counters: T1 1F Gates 4, 6, 9, 11 / T2 B1 — unmanned kiosks run 24 hours
- See the airport limousine bus website for details.
For a seamless trip, connect to data at the Incheon Airport roaming center, pick up a T-money card, exchange as much cash as you need, and take the airport railroad or an airport bus into the city. Just remember these four steps after you land, and your first day in Korea will start off far more smoothly. Step out of the airport with an LG U+ 5G eSIM and start your exciting trip to Korea without worrying about data.
